The flora of the place is characterized by the presence of shrub plants such as muña, kantuta, sage, tala and patamuña. On the island there are eight communities that are especially dedicated to the cultivation of potatoes, corn, goose, quinoa, beans and peas and their most representative crafts are made up of textiles and stone carving.
It is located in the department of Puno, and is part of the 36 islands of Lake Titicaca. To access it, you must start from the city of Puno and sail between 3 or 4 hours to the Capachica Peninsula, the entrance to the Island. The route is 40 kilometers.
Among its natural attractions are two viewpoints in the highest part, from where you can see the lake in its entirety, as well as some pre-Hispanic remains, ceremonial centers and a mummy cemetery.
