This Fort, dedicated to Santo António, was built in the reigns of D. Manuel or D. João III, on an undetermined date, but before 1587 - since it is drawn on the map of this region at the time of Francis Drake's attack. Its function was to control an area of possible landing and to protect fishermen who had a tuna fishing frame there.
Inside, there is a Chapel whose patron is Santa Catarina.
At the entrance to the Fort, there is a Shield with the Royal Arms and an inscription dated 1632 that makes reference to the reconstruction of the fort that year.
The 1755 earthquake caused great damage to it and was gradually abandoned.
Located in Vila do Bispo.
It was finally recovered in 1960, and on the foundations of the old barracks a tea house was built, whose works were carried out by the Directorate of National Buildings and Monuments, following work carried out in Cabo de S. Vicente and Sagres in the late 1950s, in view of the commemorations of the 5th Centenary of the Death of Infante D. Henrique.
