It is not known date of its foundation but it already existed in 1758.
Facing east the temple is preceded by a porch, narrower than the body of the church. The arch of the facade is enclosed by an iron railing, the sides are closed by brick rags. The pediment is topped by a belfry with bell.
Under the porch, at the entrance to the door is a marbled marble slab. Legend has it that he belongs to a noble girl from Vila Alva, who lived in Beja, predicted his death in the house in Vila Alva. Church of a single nave, rectangular plan, covered by a cradle vault divided into sections, totally painted with geometric motifs, arabesques and medallions, with three scenes alluding to the life of St. John and a Nossa Senhora da Conceição. The walls of the nave are completely covered by polychrome tiles from the same pattern in the Alva Matrix.
The cornice is also tiled.
It is located on Rua de S. João, almost at the exit of the village near the road that leads Vila Alva to Vila Frades.
The walls of the chancel are lined with baroque gilded carvings and the main altar is of baroque polychrome carving / rococo. In the niche glazed the image of the patron saint, S. João. Frontal of the altar of the type birds and branches century. XVII.
