Construit en 1820, il servit à enterrer les Juifs de cette ville et resta en place jusqu'en 1932.
La colonie juive de Faro est un bâtiment remarquable de cette ville, située à côté du stade S. Luís.
Les dix-huit arbres de la porte ont été plantés en l'honneur d'Aristides Sousa Mendes, qui a sauvé la vie de centaines (voire de milliers) de Juifs persécutés par les nazis.
Classé comme propriété d'intérêt public.
