According to historian Jorge Meléndez, one of the most studious of regional issues in the department, ´´ the creation of the town of La Palma (today Hacarí) was due to a process of eviction of the indigenous population carried out in an anarchic and individual way´´.
The rebellious Indians were called Motilones and after a fight without quarter they were marginalized like those of the Zulia River.
The area vacated by the natives received colonists enthusiastic about the cultivation of cocoa in the eighteenth century, in the second part. Owners such as Simón Jácome received three caballerias in the eastern part of the Borra River, in the Lucutama stream; other growers or invaders were Ignacio Acosta, Juan Álvarez, Diego Álvarez, Gregorio Pantaleón, Juan Bautista Garay, Bartolomé Araque, Pedro Sánchez Osorio and Ignacio Garay.
The reference points in the land measurements were the hill called Mesa Rica and the indigenous town of Aspasica; They were titled based on the legislation of Célula de San Idelfonso on August 2, 1780.
