Het is een opmerkelijk gebouw van Faro, van middeleeuwse oorsprong.
Ze is momenteel in dienst van de Orthodoxe Kerk (Patriarchaat van Roemenië), en is toegewijd aan de Apostel Tomé (Apostol Toma, in het Roemeens). Dit veroorzaakte een verandering in de binnenhuisarchitectuur van de tempel, namelijk met de introductie van een paneel met orthodoxe iconen voor het altaar.
