Tourism
Surrounded by mountains of volcanic origin, Tahiti is the main gateway for tourists. For there, the programs are typical of the coast: diving, jet-ski and catamaran tours and bathing in natural lakes surrounded by corals. Pass through the Pearl Museum, one of the only ones in the world of the genre. The capital of the island of Tahiti is Papeete, which, with airs of a large city, offers plenty of hustle and bustle, shops, markets and nightlife. Here is one of the most feared surfing waves on the planet, the cavernous Teahupo'o, which houses one of the stages of the world surfing circuit, the WCT.

While in Bora Bora, a large number of honeymooners enjoy islets formed by corals. The region still concentrates the heritage left by the Americans when it became a military base in World War II. On the island of Moorea, more examples of its stunning landscapes, with mountains and waterfalls. Curious: the French painter Paul Gaugin lived part of the life in the region, after an untimely relationship with his friend Vincent van Gogh, who died in the Marquesas Archipelago in 1903. Among the various tributes, he won The Paul Gauguin Cultural Center, in the very territory of the Marquesas, and that of The Gauguin Museum in Tahiti.
Gastronomy
The dishes of French Polynesia are based on ingredients that abound in the area, such as mollusks, fish, other meats such as chicken and pork, rice along with a wide variety of tropical fruits.
The cuisine of French Polynesia is the result of the fusion of diverse cultures of its inhabitants. Some dishes have a lot of French influence.

Summer is from November to April, with a warmer and wetter climate and winter is from May to October, when the weather is slightly cooler and drier.

Tahiti has one of the lowest crime rates. However, petty offenses such as thefts can occur. As an overseas territory of France, defense and law enforcement are provided by the French forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) and the GNR. Make sure to bring the sandals to walk in the middle of corals in the water and along the beaches or any old footwear so you do not cut your feet in the corals or fish-stone.
