Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura measuring about 210 km from end to end, is one of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Africa, politically part of Spain, being the second largest island of the Canary Islands, after Tenerife. It was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO on May 26, 2009.
It is notable for its magnificent white sandy beaches and the bright sunshine that shines all year round.
Fuerteventura Airport is five kilometers from Puerto del Rosario, with services from airlines from various countries. The island also has boat and ferry services to the rest of the archipelago from Puerto del Rosario, La Oliva and Pájara.
Tourism
Fuerteventura is an essential destination for windsurfing and diving for diving lovers.
There are more than 150 beaches from north to south of the island, spread over 340 kilometers of coastline. Meanwhile, on the east coast are cliffs and small hidden coves.
Its calm crystal clear waters are ideal for water sports such as sailing, water skiing, surfing, fishing and, above all, windsurfing, making the island now an important place on the World Championship windsurfing circuit. There is a long list of beaches where you can practice this sport: Corralejo, Cotillo, Jandía, Caleta de Fuste, Cofete.
Fuerteventura is also an ideal destination for diving fans, thanks to the crevices, caves, tunnels, elevations and rock formations that can be found at the bottom of the ocean.
Its excellent climate, sandy dune beaches, stunning natural beauty and modern infrastructure make Fuerteventura a prime destination for tourists.
Tindaya Mountain and the Betancuria Nature Reserve, is the largest protected area of the island.
Gastronomy
Integrated in the Bathing Islands, where gastronomy is considered to be one of the most original within Spanish gastronomy, Forteventura, along with the rest of the archipelago, is the fortuitous result of pre-Hispanic customs blending with various European, African and Latin American cultures. that have been influential since its conquest in the late 15th century.
Their recipes have been adapted to the peculiarities of the Island resulting in an extremely simple kitchen made from limited resources in a dry land.
Forteventura's two sources of culinary richness are the goat with its surprisingly delicious meat and famous cheese, along with the sea with a huge variety of fish.
Even so, there are countless of the typical dishes of this island that gives pleasure every day to taste a different one.
Weather
In Fuerteventura the average summer temperatures are around 33 ° C for the night, the average minimum temperature drops to about 19 °.
In winter average temperatures drop to about 23 ° C during the day and to about 10 ° C at night.
Summer peak seawater temperatures between 22 ° C and 23 ° C in mid-August, and the coldest between 18 ° C and 19 ° C in January.
Fuerteventura enjoys over 3000 hours of sunshine a year, making it the perfect destination for year-round vacations.
