Slovenia
Slovenia is a small country in Eastern Europe, limited to the north by Austria, the east by Hungary, the east and the south by Croatia and the west by Italy and the Adriatic Sea.

The country is located in the meeting of four major European regions: the Alpine region, the dynamic, the Panjonian and the Mediterranean.

Throughout its history, the country was part of the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Republic of Venice, the Duchy of Carantania (the current Slovene north), the Holy Roman Empire, the Habsburg Monarchy, the Austrian Empire from 1866, the Austro-Hungarian Empire), the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later Kingdom of Yugoslavia) and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1945 until finally gaining its independence in 1991.

Its capital is Ljubljana which is also the largest city in the country. It has been a member of the European Union since 2004 and is also the only former communist country to be part of the European Union, the Schengen Agreement, the Eurozone, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Council of Europe and NATO.

Documentation
The necessary documentation for travel to Slovenia varies according to the country of origin.
For citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein it is sufficient to have a valid passport or photo ID card.
If you come from a country other than those listed above, the maximum stay in Slovenia is 90 days.
There are countries whose citizens are required to have a valid tourist visa in order to enter Slovenia.
Citizens of those countries may also travel to Slovenia if they have a residence permit or a long-stay visa issued by another EU country (with the exception of the United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus), Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein.
Citizens of all other countries must be in possession of documents justifying the purpose and conditions of their stay and of sufficient financial resources for their stay during the period they intend to remain in Slovenia.
The documents that are needed to present vary according to the reason for the trip.
Taking into account the various conditions required for entry, it is suggested that you contact the Slovenian Embassy or Consulate in the visitor's country of residence to check these requirements before starting your journey.
Tourism
If the process of dissolution of the former Yugoslavia in the early 1990s left Croatia some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, the heritage of Slovenia, a tiny nation of 20,000 km², owes nothing to its neighbors. The small stretch of the Adriatic that fell to it after the sharing, is an oasis of transparent water. The border with Italy and Austria ensures a good extension of the Alps in the north of the country. In these mountainous regions the landscapes are divided between great green fields and the biggest complex of caves of all Europe.

Slovenia is already investing heavily in the ecotourism and skiing route! Nature dictates the rule in the country, but Ljubljana (Ljubljana), its bucolic climate capital and bars scattered on both sides of the Ljubljanica River, has long since become a point of Europeans in search of differentiated nightlife. A few hours drive away, Bled is the main winter destination and probably one of the most scenic cities you will have visited in Europe. With a car in hand, through ravines, rivers with emerald green water and chalets that seem strategically placed in large flowering fields, one arrives at the beautiful Bovec, base for activities that require an extra dose of physical effort.
Gastronomy
The cuisine of Slovenia is a collection of culinary customs (native) of that country, being possible to be found influences of the cuisine of the astro-Hungarian empire.

The main dishes are usually potatoes, cabbage, cheese (usually sheep, pork, lamb and poultry).

Soups are very popular in Slovenia, such as mineštra.

Main dishes
Belokranjska povitica, Bujta repairs, Funšterc, Kmečka pojedina, Kranjska klobasa, Matevž, Mavželj, Mežerli, Mineštra (vegetable soup), Obara, Pirh, Prekmurska gibanica, Ričet, Špehovka, Vipavska jota.
Weather
Continental climate, with Mediterranean characteristics in the coastal zone. In the months of December, January and February, the temperature often drops below 0ºC. In summer, the temperature is around 20-25 ° C, with a high degree of humidity.

Slovenia has low crime rates.

Slovenia is located in a region with regular seismic activity.
