Volledig herbouwd op het moment van de visitatie van 1534, de datum van oprichting is onbekend, alleen dat deze op dit moment al was genezen. De plaats waar het is geïmplanteerd behoorde toe aan de Herdade de Mamporcão, het toponiem dat sinds de Middeleeuwen bestond, als bijnaam van de eigenaar van hetzelfde, maar waarvan de betekenis onbekend is.
De hoofdstructuur van de kerk, het lichaam, kan, vanwege zijn eenvoud, een post-Manuelijns werk aanduiden, maar het is moeilijk te bewijzen, omdat het een model is dat later nog steeds wordt gebruikt in populaire constructies. Bovendien zijn de tekenen van later structureel werk zo talrijk dat het moeilijk wordt om een glimp op te vangen van wat er van het oorspronkelijke gebouw zal worden.
Zo presenteert de kerk, in de gevel, aan de buitenzijde een driehoekig fronton, heel eenvoudig, met de klok aan de linkerkant en de bel van het begin van de eeuw XIX. De buitenste laag van de absis lijkt in de zeventiende eeuw te zijn gebouwd.

Het interieur is ook pretentieloos, met uitzondering van de hoofdkapel, met enkele typische elementen uit de achttiende eeuw en het respectievelijke altaarstuk, barok van de regering van koning João V (1707-1750). Ook interessant en typisch in landelijke omgevingen, is de kern van ex-votos in olie op doek en koperen plaat van de negentiende eeuw. Ook barok maar eerder, uit het bewind van D. Pedro II (1675-1706), is het marmeren toilet dat in de sacristie bestaat, met rollen en antropomorf masker.
