The immense valley of the Perené, was inhabited by the native Ashaninka brothers, for many centuries ago, whom in the 17th and 18th centuries the Franciscan missionaries tried to catechize and win them over to Catholicism; In 1635 these missionaries began their first missions in the Perené mountains. In 1641 the Perené river was navigated for the first time by the missionary Francisco Matías Illescas. In 1671 they carried out their second mission to take possession of the Perené valley. In May 1742 the rebellion of Juan Santos Atahualpa against the Spanish domination took place with the extensive valley of the Perené as a battle headquarters.



In 1891 the Peruvian Government granted the Peruvian Corporation Limited 500, 000 hectares of land on both banks of the Perené River, coffee is produced on a large scale, the entry and exit of the Perené being strategically guarded by the security personnel of this English company located in Pampa Whaley as an exit point from the valley. Between 1950 and 1960, organized groups of Peruvians began to take possession of these lands, entering through various sectors such as the small farmers of Bajo Yurinaki, who settled in Florida, others entered through the Quimiri bridge arriving at Villa Amoretti, other groups they take possession in Villa Anashironi, Puerto Victoria, Sotani - Perené, etc .; all of them were denounced and persecuted as invaders, by the Peruvian Corporation Limited.



Municipal Palace 2007 In 1961 a group of residents founded the Annex of Free Port on the left bank of the Perené River. In 1968 the Annex of Santa Ana del Perené was founded; both began a race for its districtization without succeeding; But on September 02, 1978, meeting at the CEMI Santa Ana, the unification of these annexes took place, and together they achieved their aspirations on January 14, 1986 with Law No. 24445, when the District of Perené was created with its capital Villa Perené, Don Alejandrino Adauto being the first interim Mayor, succeeded by Don Isaías Aldoradin, victimized by seditious groups on July 27, 1989 in Santa Ana Park, many are the men who gave their lives for the development of Perené. In this sense, every September 02 the Anniversary of the political creation of the District is celebrated, in memory of the unity of two peoples with desires for development, ratifying it in a public assembly on December 04, 1993.





The panoramic view of the City of Villa Perené is impressive, from the summit of Cerro Gran Playa Sur - future viewpoint - where the Perené River crosses dividing the city in two, joined by a metal structure bridge, creating in the view of the observer wonderful images.
