Opera di architettura civile manuelina, ha una pianta quadrangolare e due piani, cunei montati, finestre in marmo pesantemente grattugiato. La ringhiera per scale esterna è sostenuta da decorazioni discoidali cunhal. Nella stessa elevazione c'è un balcone artisticamente interessante, con pali polilobati e mensole scolpite.
La designazione di Cadeia Comarcã l'ha ricevuta già nel XX secolo, più concretamente nel 1936, quando il governo crea questa figura legale nel sistema carcerario portoghese, in cui il condannato fino al massimo di 3 mesi di detenzione sarebbe stato imprigionato in questo tipo di catene .
Le comarche furono estinte nel 1969 e l'ultimo prigioniero fu trasferito a Évora nei primi anni '70, secondo le informazioni orali degli ex prigionieri locali.

Questo edificio fu costruito durante il regno di D. Manuel I (1495-1521), a giudicare dalle sue caratteristiche architettoniche. È noto solo che esisteva nel 1497 e questi servizi sono stati trasferiti a questa proprietà direttamente da Paço Real (LIBERATO, 2007).
