Werk van Manueline civiele architectuur, heeft een vierhoekig plan en twee verdiepingen, voorzien van wiggen, zwaar geraspte marmeren ramen. De buitenste trapleuning wordt ondersteund door discoïde decoratie cunhal. In dezelfde hoogte is er een artistiek interessant balkon, met gepoolde palen en gebeeldhouwde beugels.
De benaming van Cadeia Comarcã ontving het al in de XXe eeuw, meer concreet in 1936, toen de regering deze juridische figuur in het Portugese gevangenissysteem creëerde, waarin de veroordeelden tot het maximum van 3 maanden gevangenisstraf in dit soort kettingen zouden worden opgesloten .
De comarcas werden in 1969 gedoofd en de laatste gevangene werd begin jaren zeventig naar Évora overgebracht, volgens mondelinge informatie van voormalige lokale gevangenen.

Dit gebouw is gebouwd in de regeerperiode van D. Manuel I (1495-1521), te oordelen naar de architectonische kenmerken. Het is alleen bekend dat het bestond in 1497, en deze diensten werden rechtstreeks vanuit Paço Real naar deze woning overgebracht (LIBERATO, 2007).
