Es ist alles aus weißem Marmor, genau wie alle Säulen des Konzils von Estremoz. Es wurde wahrscheinlich 1739 auf diesen Platz verlegt, gemessen an der Inschrift auf der Säule.

Dieses Stück wurde 1539 unter der Herrschaft von König John III (1521-1557) nach dem Geschmack der französischen Renaissance erbaut, wahrscheinlich beeinflusst von der Arbeit von Chanterenne, einem französischen Bildhauer, der in der ersten Hälfte des 16. Jahrhunderts in Portugal arbeitete.
