An einem der höchsten Punkte der Gebirgskette von Ossa, im Zentrum der Stadt, erhebt sich von der Spitze seiner Mauern bis zum Schloss von Estremoz ein großer Teil.
Das Schloss aus Steinmauerwerk und Granit weist einen viereckigen Grundriss mit runden Türmchen an den Eckpunkten auf, in dem Elemente des gotischen Stils mit dem Renaissance-Stil italienischer Inspiration verschmelzen. Intern ist es in drei Stockwerke unterteilt, mit gewölbten Decken, die auf Steinsäulen basieren. In den breiteren Türmen an der Basis als an der Spitze sind die Visiere zerrissen. Die Stoffe sind mit in Stein gemeißelten Knoten verziert, die typisch für den manuelinischen Stil sind.
Das Schloss und der Zaun des Dorfes wurden per Dekret vom 23. Juni 1910 als nationales Denkmal eingestuft.
